Student Presenters & Observers
The MN Science Academy's State Fair gives winners from Regional MN Science Fairs an opportunity to compete against each other and a chance to progress to National and International Fairs. All Students who present either an Investigative Research Paper, a Library Research Paper, a Research Project, or both a Paper and Project must have first won a competition at their Regional Fairs. Students may register as individuals or as Team Members. Every team member must register and pay separately.

All students must be accompanied by an Adult Chaperone / Advisor / Parent, who also must register.

Students who are not presenting are welcome to buy a registration package for the event, as are Parents, Family, Teachers, and any other interested people. They can register online.

Student Code of Conduct
These guidelines apply to all fair attendees, at all locations and events during the fair.
  1. The use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and/or other drugs is prohibited.

  2. Presenters and Observers are expected to be in their own rooms no later than the indicated times. Chaperones may require students to report to their rooms earlier than the designated MAS curfew: 11:30 Friday night and 12:30 Saturday night.

  3. Appropriate attire is expected. The Judging Events and Awards Ceremonies are "dressy" affairs. Men should wear dress pants, nice shirts and tie. Sweaters would also be acceptable. Ladies should wear dresses, skirts, or pantsuits.

  4. Be respectful and considerate of others at all times. Remember, you have been selected to represent your school and your region. Make all those at home proud of your behavior. Be friendly and courteous at all times. Make a special effort to make new friends. Be especially polite when listening to speakers, as it is often very difficult to hear when the entire group assembles. The same applies during award ceremonies.

  5. Respect of hotels, rooms, buses and MAS property is required and appreciated.

  6. Attendance is mandatory at the Opening Sessions and all Awards Ceremonies.

Consequences: Anyone found violating the conduct code may be disqualified from the competition and sent home immediately - at his or her own expense.

Deadline for Registration: 3/15/2010

Release Forms and SRC Forms
Two types of forms are required for the State Science & Engineering Fair:

1.) Release forms are required of all Fair attendees, students and adults. These forms are: Parental Consent, Emergency Medical Information, Code of Conduct and a Media Release Form. You can print out Release Forms during the registration process, or by logging in to your registration at any time. If you need additional blank Release Forms, use these Links:
  • Student Forms (required of ALL students)
  • Adult Forms (required of ALL attending Adults)

2.) SRC Forms are reguired of all student presenters. SRC forms are used to verify that students' research is done following appropriate scientific methods. Blank SRC forms come directly from the international competition (ISEF) or it's website. Each student fills out different forms depending on their research. You should have already filled out the SRC forms to compete at your Regional Fair.

STUDENT PRESENTERS - Mail 1 full COPY of your SRC paperwork that was approved and signed off on at Regions. SRC Forms include:

  • Checklist for Adult Sponsor (1)

  • Additional forms are required based on your specific project. Common additional forms include: 1C (work done at an institutional or industrial setting), 4 (human subjects), 5A (working with Vertebrate animals), 6A (working with potentially hazardous biological agents), (7 (continuation of earlier project). A complete list of required forms can be found at
    http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/document.
