The MN Science Academy's State Fair gives winners from Regional MN Science Fairs an opportunity to compete
against each other and a chance to progress to National and International Fairs. All Students who present either
an Investigative Research Paper, a Library Research Paper, a Research Project, or both a Paper and Project must
have first won a competition at their Regional Fairs. Students may register as individuals or as Team Members.
Every team member must register and pay separately.
All students must be accompanied by an Adult Chaperone/Advisor/Parent, who also must register.
Students who are not presenting are welcome to attend the event, as are Parents, Family, Teachers, and any other
interested people. They can register online.
These guidelines apply to all fair attendees, whether you are on DECC or Hotel grounds, traveling with a tour or at any MAS sponsored event.
- The use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and/or other drugs is prohibited.
- Presenters and Observers are expected to be in their own rooms no later than the indicated times. Chaperones may require students to report to their rooms earlier than the designated MAS curfew: 11:30 Friday night and 12:30 Saturday night.
- Appropriate attire is expected. The Judging Events and Awards Ceremonies are "dressy" affairs. Men should wear dress pants, nice shirts and tie. Sweaters would also be acceptable. Ladies should wear dresses, skirts, or pantsuits.
- Be respectful and considerate of others at all times. Remember, you have been selected to represent your school and your region. Make all those at home proud of your behavior. Be friendly and courteous at all times. Make a special effort to make new friends. Be especially polite when listening to speakers, as it is often very difficult to hear when the entire group assembles. The same applies during award ceremonies.
- Respect of DECC, hotels, buses and MAS property is required and appreciated.
- Attendance is mandatory at the Opening Sessions and all Awards Ceremonies.
Consequences: Anyone found violating the conduct code may be disqualified from the competition and be sent home immediately - at his or her own expense.
